Lucky for us, Long Beach is probably one of the most pet-friendly areas in the world. We have over 10 dog parks in town, lots of pet friendly restaurants complete with patios, and plenty of pet shops and businesses to ensure we give our pets the best life and care possible.


Since we’re the best darn pet experts in town and we LOVE our town, we thought we’d share with you all the best pet-friendly spots around.

Long Beach Dog Beaches



Rosie’s is actually the only real off-leash dog beach in Long Beach area! How could you not love it? It’s a 4-acre free space for dogs to run, play, swim, fetch, and roam.


The Details:

Location: On Ocean Boulevard between Granada Ave. & Roycroft Ave.

Hours: 6am-8pm



Long Beach Dog Parks


Any Long Beach resident knows that we have an large amount of dog parks around us, which is so amazing. In case you’re overwhelmed with all the options or want to know the rules, we’ve listed our favorite dog parks below and added a link here with all of the Long Beach dog park rules.



Recreation Dog Park is the dog park that we go to for our dog park play days with Pet Waggin’ Pet Care! It has watering stations, benches, and poop bags for guests. It is also lighted at night time, which is a big bonus!


The Details:

Location: 5201 E. 7th Street

Hours: 6am - 10pm every day

El Dorado Dog Park has a separate area for big dogs and small dogs, which is a really nice addition. It has the basics that all dog parks should, like a drinking fountain, bench seating, and waste baskets for all of those poo bags! It’s also a grassed dog park!


If your doggie isn’t a huge fan of playing with all of the other dogs in the park, El Dorado East Regional Park is filled with beautiful on-leash walking trails for all to enjoy!

Location: The entrance is at the Spring Street entrance for El Dorado East Regional Park

Hours: 7am-5pm between Nov. 1 - Feb. 28 AND 7am-8pm between Mar. 1 and Oct.31



3. Bixby Dog Park


Bixby is one of the most recent dog park additions to Long Beach, making “a total of 11 acres in the City where dogs and their owners can make friends and be active,” according to Mayor Robert Garcia. How lucky are we!? Bixby Dog Park also has separated areas for small dogs and big dogs.


The Details:

Location: 130 Cherry Ave

Hours: 6am-10pm



Uptown Dog Park is another great option here in Long Beach. There are fenced off areas separating big dogs and small dogs. This park has a lot of regulars coming in and out, which as you know if you know us, we LOVE community!


The Details:

Location: 4600 Long Beach Blvd.

Hours: dawn to dusk



Long Beach Shops & Boutiques


1. Pussy & Pooch - NOW CLOSED

This shop is a real treat for pet owners! They offer pet grooming, luxury products, and adorable pet fashion products. Now this place isn’t your average pet shop. They have everything you’d need for your pup: nutrition and wellness assistance, a gourmet pet cafe, pet parties, and more!

Location: 4818 East 2nd Street

Hours:

Shop: Sun & Mon 10am-6pm, Tues-Wed 10am-7pm, & Thurs-Sat 10am-8pm

Services: Mon 11am-4:30pm, Tues-Fri 10am-4:30pm, & Sat-Sun 9am-4:30pm




This boutique is not dedicated to pet products, but instead local Long Beach artists’ work. Everything they sell in the shop here is made within 20 miles. Feel free to pop in with your pet in tow and pick out something nice. This shop is one of our favorites!

Hours: Sun-Wed 9am-7pm, Thurs-Sat 9am-9pm

Long Beach Restaurants


Pretty much all of the restaurants down on 2nd Avenue with a patio are pet friendly, but we’ve still rounded up a few of our favorites in Long Beach.


This restaurant and wine bar is the perfect romantic spot to dine at if you want your pup to join along in the fun! They have a large patio out front complete with water bowls so your doggie doesn’t get too thirsty during his human’s dining experience.

Location: 445 East 1st Street

Hours: Mon-Thurs 11:30am - 9pm, Fri-Sat 11:30am-10pm, & Sunday closed.




If you want to go to a restaurant that also has doggie menu options, then this pub is for you! From chicken breast to steamed veggies, your pup will get a dinner well deserved!

Location: 5734 East 2nd Street  

Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-midnight, Sat-Sun 9am-midnight




The Attic on Broadway also offers a pet-friendly menu, starting with a nice $4 chicken plate. Not to mention, they have lots of famous and yummy mac & cheese options for humans!

Hours: Mon-Thurs 9am-10pm, Fri 9am-11pm, Sat 8am-11pm, & Sun 8am-10pm



Pet Service Businesses in Long Beach




The Details:

Location: 1830 Redondo Ave, Suite A in Signal Hill

Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, Sat 8am-4pm, & Sun closed



We love Bixby Animal Clinic! They provide many services including wellness checkups, vaccinations, surgeries, dental care and cleanings, behavioral and nutritional counseling, and emergency vet care.

Location: 3938 Atlantic Ave

Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-7pm, Sat 8am-4pm, & Sun 9am-4pm




Belmont Shore Veterinary Hospital has been around for over 40 years. They stress the importance of providing the highest quality care possible to each and every guest that walks through their doors.

Location: 6222 East Pacific Coast Highway

Hours: Mon-Fri 9:30am-6pm, Sat 9:30-4pm, & Sun closed
